November 17 2009 City Council Public Information and Comment Alert!

A few posts back, I talked about how a group of people protesting the higher Water, Wastewater and Garbage rates insisted that the City hold a meeting in the Portuguese Hall (the one that holds up to 800 people). The date finally agreed upon was November 4th (dependent upon the availability of the Hall That Holds UP TO 800 People. I also wrote about how the Portuguese Hall (the one that holds up to 800 people) turned out to be unavailable on that date and although the protest group distributed “invitations” to a meeting on the 4th, it could not be a City Council Meeting (Brown Act-remember?)

I also wrote about how the City went ahead and booked the Big Hall for November 17th.And as for the “Council Meeting” that wasn’t really a Council Meeting-I heard about only 200 or so showed up. Plus 2 Council Persons. {How fortunate for those 2 there that there were only 2 there-(Brown Act-remember?)}The following is English and Spanish version of the Official Notice for the November 17th City Council Meeting and Public Information and Comment on Water, Wastewater, and Garbage Rates (If I had a Font for Punjabi-I’d have included it as well-but since I don’t-I can’t)

But First…a few words about declining home values in Livingston by Michael Mcguire of the San Francisco Examiner.
“Once a balloon bursts, can it be pieced back together?
This represents one of the chief economic worries of residents of Livingston, Calif., who saw the value of the average home at $297,100 in early 2006 fall to $81,900 near the end of 2009.

The statistics, compiled by Zillow Real Estate Market Reports, show the average value of a Livingston home is at about where it was 10 years ago.”

Winners and Losers in water deal
Follow California’s water as it falls first as snow in the Sierra, melts and flows down rivers, through the Delta and out the Golden Gate, and you get a pretty good idea of where the “no” votes came from in one of the most important water policy shifts in decades.

Northern California lawmakers by and large voted against the main provisions of a water policy reform package last week while lawmakers from farther south mostly voted for it.

    • Re: Your comment regarding a recent post is really vague and needs elaboration

      1) Just who exactly is the “sell out”?

      2) What exactly did this person GET in exchange for “selling out”. Be specific. “Selling out” requires a “quid pro quo”. Give Details.

      3) Define “justice”. By that, are you referring to violations of Campaign Law, The Brown Act, or other items which come under the jurisdiction of the Grand Jury or Political Fair Practices Commission or do you mean justice for trying to get the Police Chief to illegally impound vehicles?

Are you talking about the Traffic Circulation Plan which includes plans to someday “Emininent Domain” the entire East Side of Hammatt Ave. That was approved by the PRIOR council. Are you talking about justice for those homeowners who do NOT want to move and who are happy where they are?

Are you talking about PRIOR members of the Council who accused certain members of the community of seeing “conspiracy theories, flying saucers and men in silver suits”?

Are you talking about the “illegal 42 inch sewer pipe” and the stress visited upon local farmers during that mess.

Are you talking about council persons who allegedly had dealings with developers?

Are you talking about the financial crisis we are facing because certain members of City Council past clearly did not read/understand the implications of the stuff they voted to approve during the “building boom”.

Because of the aggressive growth in development approved by councils past, and the current “housing bust” home values in Livingston have PLUNGED to about where they were 10 YEARS AGO. What about “justice” for those homeowners who have been “robbed” of 10 years worth of eguity in their homes?

Just who exactly are you claiming will receive justice after you get done?

And by any chance, are YOU one of the ones responsible for the “injustices” I have listed above? Hmmmmmm? Or are you just one of their shills…..
