RECOMMENDATION:
City Council provide staff direction for appointments to the Livingston Planning Commission. Commission.
BACKGROUND:
At the direction of the City Council, staff advertised and extended the deadline date for applications for the two (2) vacancies on the Livingston Planning Commission. As of the most recent deadline date of January 3, 2011, there was one new application submitted and one application on file from a previous recruitment. The City Council previously received copies of the applications for review and consideration.
DISCUSSION:
The Livingston Planning Commission is comprised of five (5) members and one alternate appointed by the majority of the City Council. The terms of office for Planning Commissioners are for a period of four years or until their successors are appointed.
Staff provides the following options for the City Council’s consideration.
1, Interview the two (2) applicants and make appointments at a later date.
2. Process a new recruitment for members and extend the deadline date for applications.
If the City Council selects Option #2, staff will advertise the vacancies in the local newspapers via news articles; post the vacancies on the City website, Channel 2, and the City bulletin board.
