RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the Council adopt Resolution No. 2016-_, awarding the bid for the Replace Playground Equipment at Don Meyer Park Project to Breneman, Inc. for $77,521.00 and authorizing the Interim City Manager to sign the Agreement on behalf of the City of Livingston.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Livingston received insurance funds to replace the playground equipment that was damaged by fire at the Don Meyer Park.

The Central San Joaquin Valley Risk Management Authority (RMA) will reimburse the City for replacement expenses through the City’s policy coverage for real and personal property less the $25,000.00 deductible.

The major work consists of furnishing and installing playground equipment with an ADA accessible ramp, safety surfacing, and an age appropriate welcome sign.

The project was advertised on February 25, 2016, and March 3, 2016 and bids were opened March 15, 2016.

DISCUSSION:

A total of 4 bids were opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m. on March 15, 2016, this being the advertised bid opening date and time. The low bid was submitted by Breneman, Inc. in the amount of $77,521.00. The bid results are as listed:

FISCAL IMPACT:

Construction of the project will be covered using the RMA Insurance Funds and City Funds. The RMA will pay $52,521.00 of the construction costs and the City will pay the policy deductible of $25,000.00 from the Parks Development Impact Fee.

These project expenditures have already been budgeted for this current fiscal year.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVINGSTON ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING CONTRACT TO BRENEMAN, INC. FOR THE REPLACE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT DON MEYER PARK PROJECT

WHEREAS, the Invitation to Bid for the REPLACE PLAY GROUND EQUIPMENT AT DON MEYER PARK PROJECT in the City of Livingston was listed in the Modesto Bee on February 25, 2016 and March 03, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the project will consist of furnishing and installing playground equipment with an ADA accessible ramp, safety surfacing, and age appropriate welcome sign at Don Meyer Park in the City of Livingston; and

WHEREAS, the following bids for the project were publicly opened and read aloud at the Livingston City Hall on March 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

the recommendation of the City Engineer that the REPLACE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT DON MEYER PARK PROJECT be awarded to: Breneman, Inc., P.O. Box 1055 Concord, CA 94522 in the amount of Seventy-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Twenty- One Dollars ($77,521.00).
