RECOMMENDATION:

Review, discussion and possible direction to City staff on park facility rental procedures and guidelines.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Livingston currently rents to the public various park facilities, including, but not limited to the following:

• Picnic Shelter areas at Arakelian and , Memorial Parks and the Max Foster Sports Complex

• State and kitchen areas at Memorial Park

• Soccer field at Max Foster Sports Complex

• Alvernaz Field at Memorial Park (joint use agreement with school)

The soccer field at Max Foster Sports Complex is also highly used by the City’s recreational programs. Several annual community events also take place at Max Foster Sports Complex and/or at other parks. Park facilities normally experience beyond normal wear and tear conditions during major community events. Rental procedures, guidelines, fees, and deposits may need to be updated to account for the costs of maintaining park facilities in light of current uses.
