RECOMMENDATION:

Appoint a City representative to the Merced County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

Marge McFadden served as the City representative to the Merced County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees for over 13 years. Due to her recent untimely and unexpected death, it is necessary for the Council to appoint someone to fill Mrs. McFadden’s unexpired term on the Board which will expire on December 31, 2018.

The Merced County Mosquito Abatement District was founded in 1946. The purpose of the District is to provide area wide mosquito control, prevent mosquito-borne disease, and reduce economic loss and discomfort from pestiferous mosquitoes.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact to the City.
