STAFF REPORT

AGENDA ITEM: Designate Voting Delegate and Alternate for League of California Cities Annual Conference.

MEETING DATE: July 5, 2016

PREPARED BY: Betty Cota, Deputy City Clerk

REVIEWED BY: Odi Ortiz, Interim City Manager

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council designate a voting delegate and alternate for the 2016 Annual League of California Cities Conference.

BACKGROUND:

The League of California Cities Annual Conference is scheduled for October 5 – 7, 2016, at the Long Beach Convention Center. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting. At this meeting the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy.

In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council must designate a voting delegate. In the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity, the City Council may appoint up to two alternate voting delegates.

1. Voting Delegate

2. Voting Delegate Alternate

3. Voting Delegate Alternate

DISCUSSION:

The voting delegate will not only represent the City at the Annual Conference, but also serve as the City’s representative at meetings of the League during the year. The League of California Cities serves each California City with various matters while the League Central Valley Division covers business and other matters only for cities in the Central Valley.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None to the City.
