STAFF REPORT

AGENDA ITEM: Purchase of One New Utility Truck for Water Department and One New Utility Truck for Landscape Maintenance District.

MEETING DATE: June 21, 2016

PREPARED BY: Noe Martinez, Interim Public Works Director

REVIEWED BY: Odi Ortiz, Interim City Manager

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of two (2) 2016 Chevrolet Silverado utility trucks one each for the Water Department and Landscape Maintenance District.

BACKGROUND:

The Water Department currently uses a utility truck that was deemed obsolete for department uses. Staff will reassign this truck for other City uses once the new truck is added to the Water Department fleet.

The crew responsible for the Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) recently lost one utility truck due to high mileage failures and it is currently off service. This truck will be surplus once the new truck is added to the LMD fleet.

DISCUSSION:

City staff is using the procurement services from the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) to meet the Livingston Municipal Code Title 1, Chapter 11 for purchasing policies and procedures. NJPA is a public agency that offers national, competitively solicited purchasing contracts that meet the California Government Code Section 6502 for cooperative purchasing agreements.

The two utility trucks for the Water Department and Landscape Maintenance District are being purchased through NJPA’s contract with the National Auto Fleet Group. The cost for the Water Department’s 2016 regular cab truck is $37,880.02. The cost for the LMD’s 2016 extended cab truck is $40,436.48. The quotes for both utility trucks are attached.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The costs for both utility trucks have been budgeted for the current fiscal year. The Water Department utility truck will be funded 100% from the water enterprise funds. The LMD utility truck will be funded 100% from the LMD revenues.

ATTACHMENTS:

1. National Auto Fleet Group quote for regular cab at $37,880.02

2. National Auto Fleet Group quote for extended cab at $40,436.48
