RECOMMENDATION:

City Council to provide direction for appointment to the Planning Commission.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:

Planning Commissioner Mario Mendoza’s term on the Planning Commission ended December 31, 2015. Mr. Mendoza expressed interest in continuing to serve on the Planning Commission. At the Regular Council Meeting of January 5, 2016, staff was directed by Council to advertise the position for 45 days. In addition to Mr. Mendoza’s application, only one other application was received by the February 19, 2016, deadline and it came from current Alternate Commissioner Robert Wallis.

City Council has the option to make an appointment from these two applicants or to re-advertise the vacancy.

None.
