RECOMMENDATION:

City Council to consider adoption of a Resolution making an appointment to fill the vacancy on the Planning Commission.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:

Planning Commissioner Mario Mendoza’s term on the Planning Commission ended December 31, 2015. Mr. Mendoza expressed interest in continuing to serve on the Planning Commission. At the Regular Council Meeting ofJanuary 5, 2016, staff was directed by Council to advertise the position for 45 days. In addition to Mr. Mendoza’s application, one other application was received by the February 19, 2016, deadline and it came from current Alternate Commissioner Robert Wallis.

City Council has the option to make an appointment from these two applicants or to re-evaluate how to fill the vacancy.
