BACKGROUND:

Early in 2016, the Livingston City Council voted to change the Motto of the City from the "Last Stop" to "Sweet Potato Capitol".

Staff was directed to hire a graphic designer to design samples of logos that would reflect the motto. Management retained Graphics Solutions of San Diego, CA, to draft several logos. Seven (7) logos were presented to the Council for consideration and direction was given to staff to take the logo ideas to the community for feedback.

Our Recreation Department displayed the seven (7) logos for voting through several venues in 2016, including the Cinco de Mayo Festival, Downton Street Fair, and City Hall. Exhibit D attached reflects the community’s response. Logo design #5 received the most votes.

In mid 2016, staff was directed to contact the Middle School and High School to have the art classes participate in creating new logo ideas. The creative ideas from the Livingston Middle School and High School are presented on Exhibits B and C attached.
