RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the Council adopt Resolution No. 2017- , accepting the low Bid Proposal received by Modesto Executive Electric, Inc. in the amount of $140,568.00 and authorizing the Interim City Manager to sign the Agreement on behalf of the City of Livingston (City).

BACKGROUND:

The major work consists of furnishing and installing a 80kW generator for the Fire Station/City Hall and a 60kW generator for the Public Works Yard.

This project was re-advertised on January 25, 2017, February 1, 2017, and February 8, 2017.

DISCUSSION:

A total of 6 bids were opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m. on February 13, 2017, this being the advertised bid opening date and time. The responsible bidder with the lowest responsible bid was submitted by Modesto Executive Electric, Inc. In the amount of $140,568.00. The Engineer’s Estimate was $140,000.00.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost to furnish and install the 80kW Generator at the Fire Station/City Hall in the amount of $76,100.00 will be allocated equally between the following accounts:

• General Fund (56% )

• Sanitation Enterprise (8% )

• Water Enterprise (8% )

• Sewer Enterprise (8% )

• CFD (20% )

The cost to furnish and install the 60kW Generator at the Corporation Yard in the amount of $64,468.00 will be allocated equally between the following accounts:

• General Fund (63% )

• Water Enterprise ( 19% )

• Sewer Enterprise ( 13% )

• LMDs (5% )

These allocations are approximate only and the list of funds is not inclusive.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVINGSTON ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING CONTRACT TO MODESTO EXECUTIVE ELECTRIC, INC. FOR FIRE STATION/CITY HALL AND PUBLIC WORKS YEARD EMERGENCY GENERATORS

WHEREAS, the Invitation to Bid for the Fire Station/City Hall and Public Works Yard Emergency Generators in the City of Livingston was listed in the Merced Sun Star on January 25, 2017, February 1, 2017, and February 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, the project will consist of furnishing and installing a 80kW generator for the Fire Station/City Hall and a 60kW generator for the Public Works Yard; and

WHEREAS, the following bids for the project were publicly opened and read aloud at the Livingston City Hall on February 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Livingston hereby accepts the recommendation of the City Engineer that the FIRE STATION/CITY HALL AND PUBLIC WORKS YEARD EMERGENCY GENERATORS be awarded to: Modesto

Executive Electric, Inc. of Modesto, CA 95356 in the amount of One Hundred and Forty Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty-Eight Dollars, and zero cents ($140,568.00).
