RECOMMENDATION:

City Council to consider adoption of Resolution No. 2017-_, making appointments to fill the vacancies on the Livingston Parks and Recreation Commission.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:

The Parks and Recreation Commission has been inactive since 2015 due to the lack of applicants. Council directed staff to recruit for the Parks and Recreation Commission in March of 2017. The deadline for applications was May 1, 2017. The City received 7 applications; one withdrew on June 6, 2017.

Alexandra Cairncross was present at the June 6th meeting and was accepted by the Council as an additional applicant. Four of the seven applicants were at the meeting and introduced themselves to the Council. The applicants are Eric Aguilar, Alexandra Cairncross, Linda Deol, Eric Garcia, Eva Garibay, Robert Godinez, and Maria Gutierrez.

At the Regular Council Meeting of June 6, 2017, Staff was directed by Council to prepare a resolution for the next regular meeting to be placed on the consent agenda appointing all 7 of the applicants to the Parks and Recreation Commission.

RESOLUTION 2017-

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVINGSTON MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO FILL SEVEN VACANCIES ON THE LIVINGSTON PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

WHEREAS, as of March 2017, the Parks and Recreation Commission has been inactive due to a lack of applicants; and

WHEREAS, at their regular meeting of March 7, 2017, the City Council directed staff to advertise and accept applications to fill seven Parks and Recreation Commission seats; and

WHEREAS, the City received seven applications by the final deadline of May 1, 2017, from Eric Aguilar, Linda Deol, Alexandra Caimcross, Eric Garcia, Eva Garibay, Robert Godinez, and Maria Gutierrez; and

WHEREAS, on June 6, 2017 the City Council directed staff to place a resolution on the June 20, 2017, consent agenda to appoint all seven of the applicants.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Livingston does hereby appoint the following members to fill the vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission:
