Senior Accountant Jasmin Bains presented the agenda item. She noted some of the key points. She reported this was a $4.8 million grant application. If the grant was approved there would be an addition of a skate park, two tennis courts and reconstruction of the bathrooms and picnic shelters.
Mayor Rodrigo Espinoza stated if the City Council approved the addition it would be 16 acres. Mayor Espinoza stated that he was in support of this project and thought it was a good idea. He asked if Ms. Bains knew when the City would be notified if the grant application was approved.
Ms. Bains noted that the announcements were scheduled for early 2012. She noted the State Department of Parks and Recreation performs an extensive review of the grant applications.
Council Member Vierra stated he was in favor of the purchase of the two lots and supported the project.
