AGENDA ITEM: Council Designate Equipment/Property as Surplus and Authorize Staff to Dispose of Property Appropriately.
MEETING DATE: August 5, 2014
PREPARED BY: Odi Ortiz, Assistant City Manager/Jesus Chavez, Fleet Public Works
REVIEWED BY: Jose Antonio Ramirez, City Manager
Council designates the attached list of equipment/property as surplus property and authorizes staff to dispose of them appropriately.
Through the years the City of Livingston Public Works Department has purchased new equipment through various entities. However, some of the equipment is no longer in use and has never been properly disposed of. Currently the Baker forklift is no longer being used in day to day operations and is currently located at Public Works. This forklift no longer has a purpose.
Staff recommends that this surplus property be disposed of and handled by staff. Similar conditions apply to the Police Department’s 2006 Chevy Silverado.
Item# 1: Baker Forklift
Item#2: Ford Backhoe 1990 Model 555C serial # A408750 Item#3: PD 2006 Chevy Silverado
As noted in the attached Exhibit A, this surplus property has become either outdated or can no longer be used in day to day operations. To meet grant requirements, the property listed on Exhibit A has to be inventoried for surplus.
Staff has inventoried all equipment and is requesting Council to designate that all property listed on Exhibit A be deemed surplus property.
