AGENDA ITEM: Denial of Claim for Damages from Lesa Sanchez
MEETING DATE: March 18, 2014
PREPARED BY: Danna Rasmussen, Sr. Administrative Analyst
REVIEWED BY: Jose Antonio Ramirez, City Manager
Staff recommends that the City Council ( 1) deny the claim for damages from Lesa Sanchez; (2) submit the claim to AIMS, the City’s insurance adjustors for review and processing; and (3) direct the City Attorney to send a letter to the claimant advising of the City’s denial of the claim.
On February 14, 2014, the City received a claim from Lesa Sanchez alleging damages sustained at her home at 1576 Montecito Drive, Livingston on December 20, 2013, involving the Livingston Public Works Water Department.
Ms. Sanchez alleges that thick brown colored water from the City’s water system damaged her "Pur" water system and two filters. Ms. Sanchez is also seeking an additional 10,000 gallons of water during the summer months at no cost to her so that she could flush out her water line.
After review of the claim by AIMS, the fiscal impact to the City, if any, would be minimal.
