RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider adoption of a Resolution making an appointment to fill the vacancies on the Livingston Planning Commission.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
The Planning Commission terms of Ranjeet Jhutti, Robert Wallis and Warren Umberg ended December 31, 2016. All three individuals have been very reliable and have done an excellent job on the Planning Commission. Mr. Jhutti and Mr. Wallis have expressed interest in continuing to serve on the Planning Commission. Mr. Jhutti has served on the Commission since December 2013 and Mr. Wallis since May 2015.
At the Regular Council Meeting of October 18, 2016, Staff was directed by Council to advertise the three vacancies for 45 days. Inaddition to Mr. Jhutti’s and Mr. Wallis’ application, three other applications were received by the December 2, 2016, deadline and they came from Jason Roth, Satnam Singh, and Kulbir Bajwa.
At their Regular Meeting of February 7, 2017, Council voted to continue this item to their next regularly scheduled meeting and directed staff to invite all applicants to attend the meeting and be prepared to provide a verbal statement of interest and respond to questions from the City Council.
City Council has the option to fill the three vacancies from these five applications or to re-evaluate how to fill the vacancy.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVINGSTON MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO FILL THREE VACANCIES ON THE
PLANNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, as of December 31, 2016, the term of three Planning Commissioners, Commissioners Ranjeet Jhutti, Warren Umberg, and Robert Wallis ended; and
WHEREAS, at their regular meeting of October 18, 2016, in anticipation of the expiration of these three terms, the City Council directed staff to advertise and accept applications to fill three Planning Commission seats; and
WHEREAS, the City received five applications by the final deadline of December 2, 2016, from the following individuals: Ranjeet Jhutti, Robert Wallis, Jason Roth, Satnam Singh, and Kulbir Bajwa; and
WHEREAS, this action is ministerial and not subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Livingston does hereby appoint the following members to fill the Planning Commission vacancies:
